 Seasonality 1.4b1 Public Beta

Seasonality 1.4b1 public beta is available to download.

This version has an implementation of the new GFS forecast, which provides forecasts for locations worldwide. If you are using Seasonality outside the U.S. or Canada, this is the version you want. This release also has a new moonrise/moonset ring and displays the moon phase.

Nice to have the forecast back! And the moon additions are very cool. Well done, Mike!

 Path Finder 4.5

CocoaTech released Path Finder 4.5 today. There's a lot of new features in this version, most notably Undo Support, Superuser Mode, multiple Shelves and Check For Updates. But there's more (including many bug fixes). Check out the changes log for all the gory details.

Congrats to Steve, Sasha and Neil!

 DesktopSweeper at The Apple Blog

DesktopSweeper at The Apple Blog

Amos Moses Griffin likes DesktopSweeper too and mentions it in his Quest For A More Mindful Mac, at The Apple Blog:

"DesktopSweeper hides the ugly sores on your desktop. Hitting Cmd-Return (it can be changed) turns your screen into blissful, serene emptiness. Hit it again and you’ll be reverted back to your urban jungle. Think of DesktopSweeper as your Holy Rod of Power. One quick flick and it smites into oblivion everything before it."

Cool. :)

 John Udell likes DesktopSweeper

John Udell likes DesktopSweeper

Jon Udell (yes, the famous writer and analyst) shares my taste for distraction-free desktops, and shows how he achieves it in this six minutes screencast. The only part of the method he presents that's not implemented directly in OS X is done using my DesktopSweeper. Indeed, I've always thought that such a feature should be part of the OS.

 Thanks to SuperDuper!

Last weekend, the hard drive of my TiBook started showing signs of imminent death. The symptoms were intermittent loud whining and clicking (with repeating patterns you're not supposed to hear), and applications hanging for some time when trying to access the disk.

 DesktopSweeper 1.3

DesktopSweeper 1.3

DesktopSweeper 1.3 was just released, and even though I still don't have an Intel-based Mac, this is a (long awaited) Univeral Binary, thanks to the beta testers and particularly to Rosyna, Mike and Corentin!

Here are all the changes in this version:

  • Universal Binary (runs on both PPC and Intel based Macs).
  • Added ways to enable separately Display and Hide automatically.
  • Added an option to prevent the Finder to come to the front when clicking on the Desktop while icons are hidden.
  • Reworded most tooltips in the prefs pane.
  • Fixed a bug where the hidden state could get reversed for icons that were partially offscreen.
  • Changed the bundle identifier. Therefore, the name of the preferences file changed too and users of previous versions can delete the old prefs file ~/Library/Preferences/com.flip.desktopSweeper.plist.
  • Added support and optional installation of SmartCrashReports.
  • Now comes with Unsanity's Application Enhancer 2.0 and Installer 3.6.1.

You can see the manual and download DesktopSweeper from this page.

I hope you'll like it!

DesktopSweeper 1.3 Is Coming

Good news for those who asked me about a Universal Binary version of DesktopSweeper: it's in the pipe! The first beta of the 1.3 has been released to beta testers last night, so you can expect a release in a week or two.

Email me if you can't wait that long and want to join the beta team.

 Seasonality 1.3

Congrats to Mike at Gaucho Software for the release of Seasonality 1.3. This is a Universal Binary with lots of new features, such as a weather journal, a brand new graph interface, or a new radar image overlay for the U.S. Check it out!

I've been beta testing and co-localizing this app since the beginning, and I love it.
